BMW 5 Series: Standby state
Concept
When standby state is switched on, most functions
can be used while the vehicle is stationary.
Desired settings can be adjusted.
General information
The vehicle is in the standby state after the front
doors are opened from the outside.
Display in the instrument cluster
OFF is displayed in the
instrument
cluster. The drivetrain is
switched off and standby state
switched on.
Drive-ready state
Concept
Switching on drive-ready state corresponds to
starting the engine.
General information
Some functions, such as DSC Dynamic Stability
Control, can only be used with drive-ready state
switched on.

Switching on drive-ready state
Drive-ready state is switched on
via the Start/Stop button:
1. Depress the brake pedal.
2. Press the Start/Stop button.
Display in the instrument cluster
When drive-ready state is switched on, the tachometer
shows the current engine speed.
Switching off drive-ready state
Press the Start/Stop button to switch off drive-ready
state. The vehicle switches into standby
state.

Rear entertainment allows occupants in the rear
to access entertainment sources regardless of
the driver's selection. Two screens, different media
connections, and a CD/DVD/Blu-ray drive are
available in the rear for this purpose.
Rear entertainment also provides access to
many iDrive functions.

A base plate is no longer provided for any telephone system in the G30. For
this reason, the telephone
is connected to the head unit either wireless or through a USB port.
A check mark must be set for Apps if these are to be used in the vehicle via
Bluetooth when the
smartphone is coupled in the
